Planning Task Four: Website Homepage and Linked Page

What will the header on the homepage look like?

Many of the other Condé Nast websites have a very simple white background with a black masthead in the edition's signature font so I went through multiple fonts before landing on Spectral.

I went through a few choices of fonts, all in full capital letters, and all in different levels of boldness. I tested out the fonts Arial, Impact, Oswald, Times New Roman, Playfair Display, Lora, Spectral, and Trebuchet MS. I decided to ditch Arial, Impact, Oswald, and Trebuchet MS because most Condé Nast owned magazines use serif and not sans-serif fonts and I wanted to emulate that in my own magazine. The remaining fonts all felt very similar but I liked the thinner, more spaced out design of the Spectral font.

Then underneath the masthead there are different sections so if you were only interested in a specific genre presented by the magazine you could find the specific articles covered by them. My magazine covers fashion, gossip, and celebrity news but the website will cover a little more, much like the other Condé Nast magazines. On the website, I will also have section dividers for political news and style inspiration.

My linked page is going to be to one the articles, possibly one about style inspiration as magazine readers should have a reason to visit the website with articles not available in the physical copy of the magazine.

The video piece of media included on the site is going to be an interview with a made up celebrity interview. Many Condé Nast sites have video interviews with celebrities such as "5 Things [celebrity name] Can't Live Without" or "Frequently Asked Questions About [celebrity name]". People love learning about people they idolise and getting things that celebrities own as they're seen as high-end items so having an interview with a celebrity will be important to a materialistic audience.

This is a rough concept of what the website page will look like, with the video link, many articles along the side, and a call to buy the physical copy of the magazine.
